What about the bunches of Greeks and Romans and Mayans and Incas that believed in their gods? "Modern" people think they were wrong, we think that our god is right and they were wrong. no, you missed my point.

what i ment was, anceint civilizations came up with gods and goddesses to explain sceintific phenomenon that they didn't understand. through science we now know it's not shy gods that creat rain, it's the sun evaporating water and...well you know, i'm not going to explain the mecanics of rain. but anyways, my veiw on religion is that it was a way for people to explain things they didn't understand, and the belief was passed down. so yes, i do think it is a bandwagon and anyone and everyone who thinks it to be true is incorrect. and if people would just look past the 'truths' that were shoved down your throats in church and thought philisophically for a moment, you would also come to the conclusion that the is, and never has been, a god or any form of all powerful being.
