I've been to the UK several times and love the way it rains there. If I could live anywhere in the world it would be Northern Scotland where it is so green and rains and rains and rains pretty much every day.

Yes, there are others. Many others. They have been posting to my page for a long time and I delete the messages as soon as I read them for obvious reasons. Yes, fresh paint does smell good. I'm a total disaster with a paint brush! Really...it is horrible. I have this really bad habit of putting my paintbrush in my mouth. Oil and turpentine tastes horrible!!!! As hard as I try, I can't break the habit of holding a brush or two in my mouth. I create an unbelievable mess so I finally put down a painter's cloth on the floor when I paint. I'm sort of becoming fond of using acrylic instead of oils. Dick Blick art supplies has a fantastic selection of acrylics in tubes. They don't taste that great, either, if you stick the brush in your mouth but it beats turpentine and they are easier to clean up. The big difference is that acrylic sometimes dries too quickly and you have to work fast if you are trying to blend colors. I finally found some stuff that makes it dry slower.

I wear thrift shop clothes when I'm painting because I get paint all over me. My hair also has quite a few interesting colors in it if I'm painting. If you use acrylic, I have a really great tip for you. I discovered this by accident. If you are using acrylic paint (whether you're painting your house or painting on canvas) good ole generic alcohol will take it out of your clothes. Get the stuff you buy at a beauty supply store or pharmacy. If you get the paint on your clothes or someplace where you don't want it to be, use the alcohol. Takes it right off! If it is on your clothes, you need to sort of soak the spot where the paint is and then throw it in the washer. If it still has some paint on it when you take it out of the washer, do it again with the alcohol. Works every time! It has never failed me even though a few times I had to do the process as many as 3 or 4 times. Can't remember what on earth I was doing when I "discovered" that alcohol dissolves acrylic. All I remember is that I had cut my hand somehow and must have grabbed the alcohol to wipe the blood off. I think I also had dry acrylic paint on my hand and it took that right off.

I sometimes use acrylic these days.
