I noticed that you don't know how to get an avatar or a background because you commented one of the monitors. Well, you can't really get a background. To get an avatar, follow these steps:

1. Choose one
2. Press the "download" button
3. Right click you avatar in the new found window
4. Press "save as" in the dropdown menu
5. Save it
6. Go to "edit profile"
7. Click "browse"
8. Click on your avatar picture
9. TA DA! YOU HAVE AN AVATAR!
